The purpose of Swift’s text is to scorn the landlords, the Whigs and the Tories of the English Parliament into feeling shame for the treatment of the less fortunate(Moore, Pg692). Swift used the burlesque form of satire successfully. He basically proposed that the poor should raise their children like cattle, to be sold for nutrition and clothing (Swift, pg 6). He accurately argued the ethos, logos and pathos modes of persuasion convincingly. Swift believed that the poor were a drain on the state and that, ethically they needed to find a solution to the problem. He also believed that it logically made sense to turn this drain into a positive contribution to the common wealth.(Swift, pg3), and used the burlesque form of satire to make the appeal to pathos. Claiming it was in their own best interest to be used for food and clothing (swift, pg10).

Hey there Myrza! First of all i thought your paragraph was great and had a lot of information. You packed a lot into it and it had a lot of good terminology and facts. Only thing i would suggest is maybe it might be too much for an intro paragraph? ....I personally felt just the teeniest bit overwhelmed, like i was thrown too much info at once. I mean dont get me wrong its all useful stuff but maybe just save some of it for later, leave your readers wanting more!!!??? Other than that ...AWESOME so far!!!
